As Opening Day 2013 is only 56 days away for the Lake County Captains, the Promotions department is rolling out the promotion schedule for the 2013 season, the 11th season in Eastlake, Ohio. Here is a recap of the schedule that was announced:
Thursday April 4th: Opening Night, the first 1,500 fans will receive a fleece blanket courtesy of Lake Health upon entry to Classic Park. On the way out, all fans will be given a 2013 magnet schedule presented by PNC Bank. Following the game, a “SuperMegaPrizeAThon” will be held.
Friday June 15th, Superhero Night, the Captains will celebrate all types of superheroes as the players will sport special superhero jerseys that will be auctioned after the game.
Saturday June 16th: Father’s Day, the first 1,500 adult men will receive a Captains hat from Lake Health.
Friday June 28th: Cleveland Sports History Night, the Captains are bringing back a promotion that won them “Promotion of the Year” in the past. The night looks back at past events in Cleveland (both famous and infamous), has special appearances by sports legends and the team will wear a Indians-themed throwback jersey to be auctioned off after the game.
Saturday June 29th: “LanceStrong” Night, all things related to the cycling culture meet baseball. The Captains encourage fans to ride their bikes in a pre-game parade around the warning track at Classic Park. The game will feature many in-game promotions focused on recent news surrounding the sport of cycling and Lance Armstrong.
Saturday June 30th: The first 1,000 kids 12 and under will receive a soft-sided lunch box, presented by VisitPittsburgh.com.
Saturday July 6th: Rock and Roll Weekend, the fourth “Rock n’ Bobble” doll will be distributed. The bobblehead will be paying tribute to Randy Newman, an inductee in this year’s class of Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame musicians. It will be given to the first 1,500 fans compliments of Sysco. This year’s doll will also feature a sound clip from Randy Newman’s Burn On, which is synonymous with the Major League movie.
Friday July 19th: Italian Heritage Night, the Captains will honor the Italian heritage with a , an Italian-themed jersey to be auctioned off to fans after the game.
Saturday July 20th: Christmas in July, the fourth annual “A Captains Story” bobblehead will be given to the first 1,500 fans in attendance courtesy of Lake Health. The bobblehead has Skipper wearing “The Puffy Coat”.
Thursday August 1st: Salute to Technology Night, the first 1,500 fans will receive a Captains mouse pad courtesy of Koppel Advertising. The mouse pad, a piece of technology that is becoming obsolete.
Saturday August 10th: “Go Green Night,” the first 1,500 fans will receive sunglasses made with recycled materials, presented by the Lake County Solid Waste District.
Wednesday August 14th: Captains Competitive Eating Olympics, fans take part in a contest to eat nine different foods in the nine innings of the game.
Friday August 16th: Stanley Steemer will present its annual youth replica jerseys, featuring the Captains road jerseys to the first 1,000 kids 12 and under through the gates.
Thursday August 29th/Friday August 30th: The first 1,500 fans through the gates on Thursday and Friday will receive a 15-month Captains calendar courtesy of Lake Health. The calendar will feature photographs taken and submitted by Captains fans throughout the year.
The daily promotion schedule:
Monday: Buck Night, the special will feature $1 Five Star Brand Hot Dogs, chips, French fries, popcorn, soda and beer. Also, fans receive a $1 discount on their tickets or $2 off their tickets if they use a PNC Bank debit or credit card.
Tuesday: Dawg Night, featuring appearances by former and current Cleveland Browns players. These dates will also include a Webkinz plush dog giveaway for the first 1,000 kids 12 and under in attendance. On four Tuesday game dates beginning May 14, Bark in the Park returns and features the opportunity for fans to bring their canine friends to Classic Park, where the proceeds will benefit local animal charities.
Wednesday: Community Nights, a different local community will be highlighted and honored each week.
Thursday: Thirsty Thursdays/Date Night, Thirsty Thursday will feature a .25-cent beer Happy Hour for one hour before game time and half-price draft beer and fountain soda until 9 PM. Date Night, which provides couples with the opportunity to purchase two tickets to The Officer’s Club Suite and enjoy a buffet dinner, a $56 value, for only $32.
Friday: Friday Fireworks Nights, every Friday night will feature a post-game concert from a popular local band in the left field picnic area following the fireworks. (9 firework shows)
Saturday: Saturday Fireworks Nights/Ladies Night, featuring Malibu Rum drink specials for ladies in attendance. (9 fireworks shows).
Sunday: Family Fun Sundays, it will include pre-game player autograph sessions, concourse entertainment and activities, the Kids’ Zone area and the opportunity for kids to run the bases after the game. All kids in attendance will receive a Captains activities book and crayons, presented by the YMCA and Lake County Job and Family Services.
