Weather causes problems for Storm

Wednesday morning officially turned the winter season to spring but Mother Nature did not get the memo at all as snow has been falling for days. Many Storm home openers were postponed this week due to the incoming snow.

The Men’s Lacrosse team was scheduled to open the 2013 home schedule on Saturday, March 16th at 2:00 PM down at the Britt. At least four inches of snow fell Friday night and early Saturday morning, putting the team into overdrive to prepare the field for the game. The team worked for nearly three hours shoveling the least bit of snow possible. The team did a great job to get the field in great shape to play. (Pictures at the end of the blog). The game was delayed to a 5:30 start and was completed in the snowy conditions without problem.

Then comes Wednesday morning, the women’s lacrosse home opener versus Gannon was scheduled for 6:00 PM that night. By 10:00 AM, the skies open up, dropping  more snow onto the city of Painesville. First, the softball opener was postponed to a later date. Then women’s lacrosse head coach Jillian Howley made the decision postpone the home opener as well. Softball scrapped the entire first week of games as the field would not be available to play on at this time.

Here are the updated dates and times for the rescheduled events:

WLAX: Tuesday, April 16th at 1:00 PM vs. Gannon

SB: Wednesday, April 3rd at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM vs. Wayne State, Friday April 5th at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM vs. Saginaw Valley State, Wednesday April 24th at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM vs. Mercyhurst
