Left fielder Robbie Garvey and designated hitter Aaron Miller added RBI singles while third baseman Brandon Dixon hit a two-run, two-out single in the frame. First baseman Tyler Ogle and right fielder Jeremy Rathjen had RBI doubles in the frame.

In the bottom of the third inning, Captains second baseman Yhoxian Medina was called out on a checked swing. After the inning, manager Scooter Tucker was ejected by home plate umpire Tim Hromada. That was the first ejection for any member of the Captains staff or roster.
