Minor League Playoff Push

As the end of the minor league regular season is next week, many teams across the country are making last minute runs to the postseason. For the Cleveland Indians’ organization, four teams are still in mathematical contention for the playoffs. Below is a breakdown of the standings heading into tonight’s games (8/31).

AAA Columbus: 8 games to play

  • 2nd in the IL West: Trail Indianapolis by one game
  • 1st in Wild Card: Leads Gwinnett by 5.5 games, Charlotte by 7

AA Akron: 8 games to play

  • 4th in the EL Western Division: Trail Bowie by 7.5 games for 1st, trail Altoona by 4.5 games for 2nd

A+ Lynchburg: 8 games to play

  • 1st in the CL Northern Division: Leads Frederick by one game (Can Clinch Tuesday with win or Frederick loss)

A- Lake County: 8 games to play

  • 3rd in the MWL Eastern Division: Trails West Michigan by six games for wild card

SS Mahoning Valley: 8 games to play

  • Eliminated from contention

Rookie Arizona: Season over

  • Eliminated from contention with 23-33 record
